Accomplishments
Dr. Luciano is a renowned leader in the field of hydrocephalus, both nationally and internationally recognized for his research and clinical expertise. He is currently the director of the Johns Hopkins Hydrocephalus and Cerebral Fluid Center and serves on the advisory board for the Hydrocephalus Association. Dr. Luciano treats both children and adults with hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations, intracranial hypotension, craniofacial anomalies, cerebral and spinal cysts, and cerebral palsy. Dr. Luciano’s accomplishments have led to appearances in the national press, including the Wall Street Journal, Woman’s Day, and the Today Show.
In addition to his clinical achievements, Dr. Luciano has led two NIH-funded grants focused on Cerebral Blood Flow Response to Chronic Hydrocephalus and Improving CBF through Direct Control of CSF Pulsations. He also invented a device to control intracranial pressure pulsatility in order to increase blood flow. Dr. Luciano has been invited as speaker or guest lecturer to various national and international universities and conferences, and he has published 26 peer-reviewed research papers on hydrocephalus issues.
